4th Saturday Meal Volunteers

Although Micah clients cannot gather for a large community meal like we normally serve each month, Micah is still committed to providing healthy meals each day – delivered to the motels where clients are being temporarily housed during the pandemic. They have asked us to cover our usual day, the 4th Saturday of the month, throughout the summer.
So, what does serving this meal look like in the time of COVID-19? Different, that is for sure! We need a team of four to six people to meet at 2:00 PM at Ebenezer to prepare the food (the usual menu of chicken, potatoes, green beans, etc.) in the main kitchen. The second team of volunteers (six people, two per car) will pick up the individually packaged meals at 4:00 PM and deliver them to the three local motels at 5:00 PM. A list of clients will be provided and a Micah staff member will let them expect us.

Fredericksburg Regional SPCA

The Fredericksburg Regional SPCA is a non-profit animal resource center that not only provides service for the animals within our community but also the people as well.
All of our donations go to our animal here at our shelter, our pet pantry program that allows members of the public, who typically cannot afford food, to pick up food for their pets. If we have an overabundance of donations we will send them to other animal rescues who may need it as well.

Contact:
10818 Courthouse Road Fredericksburg, VA 22408, 540-898-1500, info@fredspca.org

Monetary Donations:
Yes! They can donate by coming directly into our shelter, sending checks via mail to 10819 Courthouse Road Fredericksburg, VA 22408, and they can even go online to our website where there is a donation form. https://fburgspca.org/donate/

Non-Monetary Donations:
Yes! We take in all sorts of donations, if we cannot use it here we will find another rescue to take it or it helps out members of the public who may not be able to afford certain items such as food, toys, treats, bowls, etc.  We will take in items regardless of if they have been used or not, we can typically always put these items to use. We also have a donation wishlist on amazon that lists the items we need most.  We accept everything from:  New to opened bags of dog/cat food, wet food, peanut butter, canned chicken, puppy/kitten formula, heating disks, bottles for the neonatal animals, new and used linens, office supplies, trash bags, and really anything you can think of we will take.  We will however not take in bed pillows as they tend to harbor more germs and our machines cannot clean them.

Volunteers Needed:
We need volunteers to assist with cleaning the animal enclosures, feeding, socializing, off-site events, on-site events, transporting, sorting donations, assisting with the reception area, dishes and laundry. We always have something that a volunteer can do and even the smallest task can be very important. Especially if it is sitting with the cats and giving them some love.

Volunteer
You have to be 16 to volunteer WITHOUT a parent but if you're younger than that all you need is for a parent or guardian to volunteer with you and you're set.
However, if you want to volunteer with dogs you must be 18 or older.

Rappahannock Aviation Outreach, Inc.
We are a 501c3 with an all-volunteer board of directors focused on raising funds to build an outdoor play and learn facility at Stafford Regional Airport. The airport is located in central Stafford County. It is open to the public for enjoyment and this picnic and play area amenity can add a unique open space for children and families to recreate in Stafford. Stafford County currently has just a handful of publicly available playgrounds for its residents.
All funds raised will go to promote and build the "Outdoor Center for Aviation Education".  This "Outdoor Center" will feature a covered picnic shade pavilion with tables, miniature 'runway' and 'taxiway' paths, for imagined takeoffs and landings, multiple aviation-themed climbing structures of various types, viewing scopes, outdoor speakers broadcasting the pilot radio frequency of the airport, and interactive educational signage that conveys science and history of aviation.

Contact:
Rappahannock Aviation Outreach, Inc.  Contact Email: Officers@RAOutreach.org  Contact Phone: 918-808-4141(cell)  Mailing Address: 120 Marlborough Point Rd., Stafford, VA 22554

Monetary Donations:
We are currently running an inscribed brick campaign to raise the last amount of money needed to build the pavilion. Persons can memorialize their support of this project by purchasing a brick or sharing in the purchase of a brick. Each brick has three lines of inscription space. Bricks will be installed in the walkway entrance to the pavilion. The website for purchasing a brick is: www.bricksrus.com/order/rao. Donors can also mail donations or contact us directly by the email or phone. All donations are tax deductible.

Non-Monetary Donations:
Currently, we are actively seeking donations of labor and materials for building the picnic pavilion feature of 'The Outdoor Center'.  We are also seeking silent auction item and service donations for our upcoming fundraiser: 'FLYING HOME' SWING DANCE with the Silver Tones' on September 29, 2018. In addition to the Silent Auction items, we are looking for roll vinyl flooring remnants that we can piece together for an outdoor dance floor. In addition we are looking for several public speakers who would be willing to donate their crowd draw capabilities for a 'Winter Speaker Series' fundraising effort.

Volunteers:
We need volunteers to help us with promotion and with fundraising and community outreach events. We recruit volunteers for our board of directors for two-year terms of service.

Rappahannock Council Against Sexual Assult
At RCASA, we believe that every survivor – no matter their gender, age, race, religion, income, ability, ethnicity, or sexual orientation – deserves support.  Ultimately, sexual violence is about an offender exerting power and control over someone else; it is never a survivor's fault. There are short- and long-term effects of sexual violence, and typically, recovery is not linear. No matter where you are, or where your loved one is, in the process,  RCASA is here to help. By connecting clients to community resources, we help to ensure continuity of care and a successful healing process. Our goal is for every survivor to receive the support they deserve, both in the immediate crisis and in the long-term.
