4th Saturday Meal Volunteers

As we begin to move toward serving a single large community meal like we have done in the past, starting this month we will do a ‘hybrid’ meal service. Our volunteers will meet at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church in downtown Fredericksburg to prepare the meal in their kitchen and serve neighbors from the church’s green space. Additionally, we will deliver a limited number of meals to those clients still staying at a local motel.

Volunteers prep, cook, serve, and clean up a healthy dinner for approximately 50 guests, mostly Micah Ministries’ clients.

Prep, Cook and Serve: No special skills are needed, and there are no culinary requirements! All supplies are brought by the program leaders; volunteers only need to show up ready to work. Under this new ‘hybrid’ model, we will prepare the meal in the Fredericksburg UMC kitchen, box it up ‘to go’ style, and serve guests on the church’s lawn. Additionally, we will deliver a limited number of meals to those clients still staying at a local motel. We have jobs for all skill and comfort levels.

Age Restriction: Most of our volunteers are over 10 years old. However, if you feel your younger child is capable of helping prepare a meal at home, they are welcome here!

Where: Fredericksburg United Methodist Church (308 Hanover St, Fredericksburg, VA 22401 – use Princess Anne Street kitchen entrance)

Time Commitment: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

Rappahannock Council Against Sexual Assult

At RCASA, we believe that every survivor – no matter their gender, age, race, religion, income, ability, ethnicity, or sexual orientation – deserves support.  Ultimately, sexual violence is about an offender exerting power and control over someone else; it is never a survivor's fault. There are short- and long-term effects of sexual violence, and typically, recovery is not linear. No matter where you are, or where your loved one is, in the process,  RCASA is here to help. By connecting clients to community resources, we help to ensure continuity of care and a successful healing process. Our goal is for every survivor to receive the support they deserve, both in the immediate crisis and in the long-term.
