Families in our area — including Fredericksburg City Public Schools, Spotsylvania County Public Schools, and Stafford County Public Schools — registration for 2026-2027 is open!
Each school division has its own registration timeline and requirements, but most will ask families to provide documents such as proof of residency, a birth certificate, immunization records, and a recent physical. Many schools also host Kindergarten Registration Days or “Kindergarten Roundups” where families can meet staff, tour the school, and learn what to expect during their child’s first year.
Starting kindergarten is an exciting milestone for both kids and parents! If you have a child ready to begin school this fall, now is the time to start preparing for kindergarten registration at local schools.

Spotsylvania County Public Schools
Preschool: To apply for the preschool program, visit this link..
Kindergarten: To enter kindergarten next fall, the child must be 5 years old on or before September 30, 2026. Complete the pre-registration form on ParentVUE Online Portal prior to visiting your child's school. (Find tips for ParentVUE here) After completing the pre-registration, you will need to provide the school with these documents: Birth Certificate (get a copy at VDH if you don't have one), Child's Social Security Number (You can get this from the SSA), and a physical on the School Entrance Health Form from your physician. New Student: If you are new to Spotsylvania County, complete the pre-registration form on ParentVUE Online Portal prior to visiting your child's school. After completing the pre-registration, you will need to provide the school with these documents: Birth Certificate (get a copy at VDH if you don't have one), Child's Social Security Number (You can get this from the SSA), and a physical on the School Entrance Health Form from your physician. Once you complete the registration form, you will receive a confirmation email from no-reply@fxbgschools.com with instructions on how to create your PowerSchool account and complete the remaining registration. (Tips on Enrollment Express). You will need to scan documents to submit online, prior to bringing the originals to your school. Birth Certificate (get a copy at VDH if you don't have one), Child's Social Security Number (You can get this from the SSA) Documents include: Original Birth Certificate (get a copy at VDH if you don't have one), Child's Social Security Number (You can get this from the SSA), Proof of city residency (utility bill, mortgage document, etc), Physical Entrance Exam dated after 8/11/2025

- Free immunizations may be obtained at the Spotsylvania Health Department in the Holbert Building, 2nd Floor (9104 Courthouse Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22553). Phone number: (540)507-7400. Their hours are by appointment.
- 🎒Delayed Enrollment: If you do not feel that your child is emotionally or mentally ready to attend Kindergarten, and your child will not have turned six on or before September 30th of the school year, you may choose to delay Kindergarten enrollment. To do this, you will need to contact your school board to let them know you are postponing enrollment for one year. (Va Code § 22.1-254(H)(5) of the Code.)
