On February 23, 2025, Fredericksburg once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to its unhoused neighbors during the third annual Coldest Night of the Year walk. With an impressive 851 registered walkers, 84 teams, and 82 volunteers, the community came together in full force to support Micah Ecumenical Ministries and its mission of providing pathways to housing and stability.

The event featured both 2K and 5K walking routes, each culminating at Riverfront Park, where participants gathered to celebrate their collective impact. The slightly extended 5K route held special significance, allowing walkers to pass by the nine founding downtown churches that have been the backbone of Micah’s work for nearly two decades.
Beyond just a walk, Coldest Night of the Year was a movement—an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for those experiencing homelessness.
Thanks to the dedication and generosity of its participants, Fredericksburg proudly maintained its title as the #1 Coldest Night event in the U.S. for fundraising and walker participation—for the third consecutive year. This incredible achievement is a testament to the community’s deep compassion and commitment to ending homelessness.

As the night wrapped up, one thing was clear: Fredericksburg is making a difference. The funds raised through this event will directly support Micah Ecumenical Ministries’ efforts in providing shelter, housing assistance, and long-term solutions to homelessness.
