Last year Virginia didn't get a Tax Free weekend, but it's back for 2024! This means you pay zero sales tax when you purchase eligible items between Friday, August 2, and Sunday, August 4, 2024.
The tax-free days include the following tax-free items:
- School supplies ($20 or less per item)
- Binders
- Folders
- Composition Books
- Notebooks and legal pads
- Pencils, pens, crayons, markers, etc.
- Book bags
- Lunch boxes
- Musical Instruments, accessories, and sheet music
- Paintbrushes, paints, art paper, sketchbooks
- Workbooks
- Tissues
- Protractors, rulers
- Reference books, maps, and globes
- Clothing and footwear for all ages ($100 or less per item)
- Shirts, hoodies, jerseys, shorts, skirts, pants, jeans, etc
- Shoes, socks, hosiery, belts, scarfs
- Jackets, sweaters, coats, gloves
- Uniforms
- Undergarments
- Suits
- Neckwear
- Wedding apparel (non-rented)
- Swimwear
- Costumes (non-rented)
- Labcoats, coveralls, rubber pants, etc.
