Gift Cards Galore - 9 Fun Ways To Give Gift Cards!

in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania and Stafford, VA

We have a lot of people in our lives where gift cards are the gift of choice - whether it's for a sweet treat, a nice dinner out, a digital game, or an experience to use in the future, gift cards can make the perfect gift.  Gifting the gift card can also be fun and festive.  Here are a few ways that you can "wrap" your gift cards for a fun gifting experience without breaking the bank. All of our ideas were executed with a quick trip to our local dollar store.

1) Mason Jar

Our dollar store has a good variety of glassware, including mason jars. Additionally, they have a number of lids that you can use on the jar to make it unique.  (we chose the straw, but our store had 4 other options) Place the gift card inside the jar and add prewrapped candy around the card. If you're worried about allergies, or the candy melting in transport, you could add party paper instead of candy to make it festive!

2) Candy Cane Ornament

Using a hot glue gun, glue two candy canes together in the shape of a heart.  Glue a small piece of ribbon to the top so that it will hang. Then hot glue the edges of your gift card to the candy canes.

3) Coffee cup or mug

If the person you are gifting to is a coffee lover, grab a cute coffee cup and slide the card inside. Place the mug in a clear gift bag, tie a bow at the top and you have an adorable gift.

4) Snow Globe

A quick visit to our local dollar store to pick up a snow globe and some glitter and I have the perfect place for a gift card. Just remember that the recipient has to get the gift card out, so larger types of glitter make less of a mess.

5) Wooden Ornament

Choose any flat ornament (we found wooden works best) that is larger than the size of your gift card. Choose a piece of felt and cut it just larger than the gift card. Hot glue the felt on the back of the ornament and you have your very own ornament holder!

6) Stuffed Animal

Grab a stuffed animal and hot glue the gift card to its hands. We suggest using a small piece of painter's tape on each hand and putting the hot glue on the tape. This allows the gift card to be glued to the tape and the tape easily comes off so the stuffed animal isn't destroyed. Another option is to glue the gift card to a ribbon to hang as a necklace around your animal's neck. This makes a great gift for any child!

7) Felt Garland

We found some really cute felt garlands at the dollar store including Santa faces and snowmen. Cut the garland's ribbon apart between the felt. You can tie this ribbon at the top in a loop to create a hanger. Then flip the decoration over and hot glue a felt rectangle on the back large enough for the gift card to slide into.  The garland we purchased had enough to make 6 sleeves, perfect for matching teacher gifts.

8) Small felt stockings

These stockings come individually or in multiple packs and also come in many colors. Be sure that the stockings you grab are big enough to slip the gift card into. You can decorate the front of the stocking with a name, glue a little holly leaf on the top or dress it up with some cute colored stitches and a button.

9) DIY Envelope

Use this link to print off a template to fold your own envelope around your gift card. We suggest using card stock so your envelope is a little stronger.  Choose a fun patterned paper or decorate it with markers, glitter, or stickers. You can even add a "strap" to the top to create a purse, or a hook to create an ornament.
