Visit the Kid's Club At The Spotsylvania Farmer's Market!

in Spotsylvania, VA

By Danie and Halie, Market Managers July 6, 2023

The Spotsylvania Farmers Market has two markets each week. Our Saturday Market is held from 8am to 1pm each Saturday, April to December and one Saturday per month January to March. This market has over 50 vendors offering a variety of products from local produce and meat to pastries and bread to local honey and mushrooms.

Our smaller, midweek market is every Wednesday 2pm to 6pm from May to September. This market is more intimate with 10-15 vendors offering fresh-squeezed lemonade, made-to-order tacos and pupusas, coffee and bagels with homemade schmears, fresh produce, pastries, and lavender products. This market also hosts our Kid's Club which begins the first week of July and runs through the end of the Wednesday market season. This Club is free to participate and offers kids an opportunity to explore locally-grown fruits and veggies. Kids also get to know our small-business owners which helps them become the next generation of marketeers and market-goers! Our goal is to help kids develop a healthy relationship with exploring new foods as well as recognize the importance of the small businesses in our community. Each participating kid receives $2 in market money to spend on fresh fruits or veggies to help them learn how to shop at the market and encourage healthy food options.

This program is a great opportunity for families to get out of the house on Wednesday afternoon and bring home the freshest products our community has to offer.
