Geocaching can best be described as a hide and seek type treasure hunt and it is currently approaching its 20th anniversary!

International Geocaching Day is Saturday, August 20, 2022, and Geocachers are aiming to also make it a World Record Breaking Day! If you like to go geocaching, or if you'd like to learn, mark your calendars and head out on a hunt this August 20th!

Here are some ways that you can help break the record:

  • Plan a group geocaching outing on August 20. Be sure to include friends who haven't tried geocaching too!
  •  Post a “Found it” log
  • Complete an Adventure Location
  • Post an “Attended” log for an event taking place on August 20, 2022

The current record is 126,833 explorers, set 9 years ago, in 2013.  The creators of this event will post the results on  Twitter, Instagram, and this blog as the day goes on. Final results are expected to be available on Wednesday, August 24th, and will also be announced on the same platforms.
