According to the CDC, suicide is a leading cause of death. "In 2020 an estimated 12.2 million American adults seriously thought about suicide, 3.2 million planned a suicide attemt and 1.2 million attempted suicide." With almost 46,000 people commiting suicide each year it is so important to make sure that those around us have the approapriate resources.
On July 16, 2022 the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline telephone number has change to 988. People who need help can call or text 988 to be connected to a trained counselor. The original lifeline phone number, 800-273-TALK (8255), will also remain available.

- Disaster Distress Helpline - Call or text 800-985-5990 provides free, multilingual, confidential immediate crisis counseling for people who are experiencing emotional distress 24/7.
- DomesticShelters.org - Search a list of domestic abuse shelters around the United States.
- FORGE - A national transgender anti-violence organization.
- Lifeline Chat - free, confidential online crisis service that is available to everyone 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

- National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP) - workins with LGBTQ people who have been victims of domestic violence
- Project Semicolon - An anti-suicide movement and a way for people to show support for those dealing with mental health and suicide.
- SAMHSA’s National Helpline - Call 800-662-HELP (4357) for referrals for substance abuse and mental health treatment 24/7, 365.
- Safe Space - Here you can find free resoursces and tools. It will also connect you to 988 or a live chat.
- Therapy for Black Girls - an online space dedicated to encouraging the mental wellness of Black women and girls.
- Trans Lifeline - Call 877-565-8860 for Trans peer support.
- The Trevor Project - Call 866-488-7386 for suicide prevention services for LGBTQ+ youth.
- Vibrant.org - "Helping people achieve mental and emotional wellbeing with dignity and respect." This website connects people and families to organixations who can assist with emotional support and care.
- Veteran's Crisis Hotline: - Veterans, active duty military and their families can dial 988 and press 1 or text 838255. They can also chat online.
