Kids bored with your breakfast routine? Maybe you are too!  Sometimes you have to hurry while other days you may have more time to experiment. Here are various ideas to change it up a bit. Some take a little longer than others, but there's something for everyone:

Cereal

  • let the kids choose a new cereal that they haven't tried before
  • add a little something to their favorite cereal - raisins, strawberries, blueberries or bananas.

French toast

  • use flavored bread, like raisin or banana bread swirl
  • cut the cooked french toast into sticks, add butter and roll in cinnamon sugar (instead of syrup)

Yogurt

  • let the kids pick out a new flavor or try Greek yogurt
  • add chia seeds and/or honey
  • add fruit - strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or bananas

Oatmeal

  • choose flavored oatmeal (you can pick the low sugar option, they won't be able to tell!)
  • add chia seeds and/or honey
  • add chopped nuts
  • add cinnamon, raisins and milk

Cinnamon Roll Waffles

Pancakes or waffles

  • add blueberries, chocolate chips or even sprinkles to the batter.
  • top with whip cream (instead of syrup)

Eggs

Muffins

  • Get a basic muffin batter recipe and add something different to each row, making 3 or 4 different types of muffins in the pan.  Try blueberries, strawberries, bananas, apple chunks, chocolate chips, nuts or a combo!  You can also find a premade, just add water, mix that makes only 6 muffins so you can buy 2 and have a variety.
  • Morning Glory Muffins (made with carrots and pineapples!)

Bagels

  • Try a variety of flavors
  • add cream cheese, butter or jelly
  • slice your bagel in half, top with cheese and toast open face in the toaster oven or air fryer.

Add fun sides like

  • bacon
  • sausage links
  • hashbrowns
  • breakfast potatoes
