The Spotsylvania County Tourism Department is excited to invite you to celebrate Spotsylvania County’s 300th Anniversary at the Spotsy 300th Celebration taking place THIS SATURDAY, September 25th in the Historic Courthouse District beginning at 4 pm. Enjoy food trucks, live entertainment, children’s crafts and activities, a Living History Lawn, craft vendors, Fire & Rescue displays, Sheriff’s Office displays, and a “Happy Birthday Spotsy” Party Zone! Admission is free and there’s fun for the whole family as we celebrate everything special and unique to Spotsylvania’s past, present & future.

Dive into the history of Spotsylvania County as you immerse yourself in the Living History Lawn at the Historic Courthouse. Experience exclusive photo ops with re-enactors from the Civil War, colonial 1800s, and 1920’s, while listening to the Proclamation that founded Spotsylvania County read by Governor Alexander Spotswood himself! Tour the Historic Courthouse and the 1855 Jail, or learn about African-American history from the 23rd USCT and John J. Wright Museum.

Be sure to visit with representatives from Spotsylvania’s Fire, Rescue & Sheriff’s Offices at their interactive displays to learn about fire safety, child safety, animal control, and boat safety.

Macaroni Kid Fredericksburg will have kids' games and free kid's craft kits!

Located behind Spotsylvania Elementary, the “Happy Birthday Spotsy” Party Zone will feature an array of children’s games and activities including a tie-dye station, DIY mini time capsules, create-your-own party shakers, a birthday card station and so much more. Bust a move as DJ Rick Hamm provides great party music, and dazzle the crowd with a free face painting or balloon animal! And don’t forget to stop by the many craft vendors to find a great gift for loved ones.

As the evening winds down, visit one of the many food trucks on-site to grab a delicious dinner before finding a seat to watch the amazing fireworks display starting at 8pm.

Avoid event traffic and be the first back to your vehicle by taking a free shuttle bus from Courtland High School to the Historic Courthouse (masks are required for shuttle buses). Five dollar ($5) parking can be found in the Courthouse Village at the corner of Brock Road and Courthouse Road. All donations support the Spotsylvania High School Athletic Boosters. A free trolley will run from the Merchant Square Building to the Historic Courthouse for those who would like to avoid the walk! Limited, free parking can be found at the Public Safety Building located on Dean Ridings Lane.
