Grayson Highlands provides great easy family access to high elevation views with hiking trails and the occasional wild pony! (do not pet or feed the ponies)
As a reminder, with an elevation of about 4,000, the temperature can be about 10-20 degrees cooler at the top and there are often strong wind gusts. Be sure to be prepared, even if you are only planning a short hike. You can find DCR's list of suggested hiking gear here.
