Travel VA: Grayson Highlands

About 5.5 hours from Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania and Stafford, VA

By Jenny Sites July 22, 2021

Grayson Highlands provides great easy family access to high elevation views with hiking trails and the occasional wild pony! (do not pet or feed the ponies)

As a reminder, with an elevation of about 4,000, the temperature can be about 10-20 degrees cooler at the top and there are often strong wind gusts. Be sure to be prepared, even if you are only planning a short hike. You can find DCR's list of suggested hiking gear here.
