It might be cold out, but it's always a good time to get outside, get some fresh air and enjoy a little family time. One great way to do this is with a Story Walk!

What is a Story Walk?

A story walk is basically a book taken apart and placed along a path. Families can walk from the start of the book to each page and read as they go. The number of stops along the walks differs. Stories are changed out periodically.

The Fredericksburg StoryWalk®️ is located on the Rappahannock River Heritage Trail along Caroline Street (between Old Mill Park and Ford Street) There are 12 panels that each tell a portion of the story.  The original story was 'Bear Came Along". Head down to the trail to see what the current story is!

Battlefield Elementary Story Walk

This story walk is located behind Battlefield Elementary school. The walk starts between the elementary and middle schools and circles around the field behind the elementary school.  It was created by librarian Stacy Hammer and an 8th grade teacher from the neighboring middle school. The story leads you on about a 3/4 of a mile walk, with 16 stops. Each stop contains another portion of the story and poses a question that goes with the book.  The story is changed every few months, so be sure to check back.
