Boredom Busters: 4 Things For Kids To Do At Home With Pets

Every pet owner, including me, knows the struggles of an overzealous pet and nowhere to take them. My dog, Churro, who’s barely older than a baby, can be a maniac if I wouldn’t find any new activities inside. Here are the four ways I kept from going insane and my dog from ruining my house amuck.

1. Agility Course

We all have so-called trash around our house, but wait a second before you throw it out. Instead, up-cycle. Turn your so-called trash into an agility course. Plastic water bottles can be anything from hurdles to objects to chase. Line up the toilet paper rolls into a maze. Use what you have and change to fit your pet.

2. Music Party

Do you know what your pet's favorite song is? No? how dare you call yourself a pet parent? Never fear, time spent stuck inside can be used for just that. Make sure to not blare music too loud, but play every type. See if your pet enjoys the same music as you. Personally, mine loves Britney Spears, I guess I just got lucky.

3. New Recipes

Just about everyone these days has access to online recipes. We also all know what it feels like to be eating the same foods, over and over. First, check with an adult to make sure you know any allergies your pet may have. Next, have fun. Peanutbutter covered cookies, to fruit. There’s no limit to what you could make. You can find a recipe for peanut-free dog treats here. Plus, follow Us on Pinterest for some great animal treat recipes!

4. Naps

At the end of the day, when your energy has left you alone, snuggle up with your pet and let yourself fall asleep. Whether that be in bed, or like me on the couch, after doing everything on this list, take time and nap.
