Did you know that the Shenandoah Valley was once the floor of a great inland sea?  As the sea receded, nature created these amazing rock formations.

According to Augusta County Government "The seven Natural Chimneys tower as much as 120 feet above the pastoral terrain of the Shenandoah Valley, offering onlookers a sight unrivaled in majesty."

The Natural Chimneys, located at 94 Natural Chimneys Lane
Mount Solon, VA 22843,  are about a 2 hour drive from the Fredericksburg area.  It's a beautiful drive and there are campgrounds nearby if you choose to make it an overnight adventure.
