Q: What is your name and what is the name of your business?
A: Chrissy Gibbs. Wiggle Worms
Q: What inspired or encouraged you to start your business?
A: Wiggle Worms was founded in 2009. My co-founder, Leslie, and I have known each other since high school, and our children are around the same age. One day, Leslie and I were trying to relax at a local gym’s sauna – our kids were in good hands in the gym’s childcare room, but we only had thirty minutes to ourselves before the kids had to be picked up. We said to ourselves, “If only there was a place to drop off our kids so we could breathe or grab a cup of coffee!” The more we thought about it, the more we wanted to make our idea a reality. We pitched our business proposal to the Spotsylvania Towne Centre. A month later, the mall contacted us and asked, “When can you start?”
Q: What do you love about your work?
A: I love that no days are exactly the same! I love the interactions with the parents, watching the kids grow and develop, and the friendships that have evolved with the staff.
Q: What advice do you have for others wanting to start a business?
A: Appreciate and acknowledge customer feedback, and be flexible with applying constructive feedback to your routine work and your company’s policies. Understand, that you are not going to make every customer happy, but strive too anyway. Acknowledge when you are wrong, and learn from your mistakes. Above all, have faith.
Q: What do you do to take care of yourself and how do you make time to do it?
A: While being a business owner fills many hours of my day, I carve out time to spend with my family and support my kids’ many athletic endeavors! I love to watch them play!
Q: What can we do to support you in the community?
A: The best way to support Wiggle Worms is to spread the word! Families in Fredericksburg have trusted us for over a decade to provide quality part-time care for their kids. Q: What is your favorite spot to go around town?
A: My favorite spot in town is Soup and Taco. My family and I absolutely love their crab soup!
