Now that Christmas is over and the gifts are unwrapped, you still have another 7 to 10 days before the kiddos head back to school. If the holiday gifts weren't enough to keep them entertained, here are some fun ideas to do as a family:

Crafts:
- Sock puppets - find those socks without mates and get out the craft supplies. You can just use markers to make faces or you can add felt faces, googly eyes and more. After you're done put on a puppet show!
- Paint rocks - grab some smooth rocks and decorate them with sharpies or paint. Use them to decorate your flower garden or hide them on your next outing to make a stranger's day!
- Make a town out of empty food boxes - gather some empty food boxes, paper towel tubes, etc. and turn them into a tiny town. Perfect size for action figures too.
- Create your own book - Staple some paper together, pick a theme and become an author!
- Create your own puzzle – cut out a photo from a magazine or draw your own. Line up popsicle sticks horizontally so they are touching. Glue the image to the popsicle sticks. Once the glue dries, have a parent slice through the image where the sticks meet. Now you have a puzzle!
Outdoor fun:
- Geocaching - our area has hundreds of Geocaching opportunities. You can find a few here or simply Google them.
- Dig for “treasure” in the sandbox - Grab some toys and hide them in the sand. If it's warm you can put them in the outdoor sandbox. Otherwise, you can use a large storage tub indoors.
