Massaponax DECA goes Gold with Fairy Godmother Project

By Ellie Butler & Taryn Saunders September 13, 2018

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. With support of the Fairy Godmother Project(FGP), a local non-profit,  Massaponax DECA is sponsoring a Going Gold football game on September 28 at 7pm to raise funds and awareness about FGP. Fairy Godmother Project provides services to families with children that have been diagnosed with pediatric cancer.

DECA members, Ellie Butler and Taryn Saunders are coordinating the event. This all began with a marketing class project on a non-profit. Ellie chose Fairy Godmother Project. She presented her project and we then invited Ms. Andie McConnell to come in and speak to our class about the organization. Ellie was invited to intern for the summer with FGP and it was then the idea for the Heart of Gold campaign began. A date was chosen for a football game, shirts were designed, ribbons and banners will be made and Panther Stadium will be decorated for our Going Gold Game.

Our goal is to increase awareness about who Fairy Godmother Project is and what they do in our community and to raise funds to support their work.

If you would like to support our Heart of Gold Campaign, shirts are being sold in the Massaponax School Store and will be on sale at the game for $15.00. Check out the shirts below with contact information.  In addition both Lee Hill Elementary and 1st Choice Better Homes & Land will replace Massaponax with their own name and have had t-shirts made for their business/organization.

Massaponax DECA is thankful for the support of the community. We hope to see you at the game as we GO GOLD on September 28 to support the Fairy Godmother Project.
