It is often said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. In fact, studies have shown that teachers see poor academic performance in hungry children as these students lose the ability to concentrate. Students who eat a balanced breakfast in the morning are both more likely to attend school and perform better on their standardized tests.*
I know, you’re thinking “mornings are crazy” or “we don’t have time for breakfast”. Smithfield has come up with a few quick and easy breakfast recipes that will get your morning started off right! Smithfield recently sponsored a brunch I hosted for some local mom friends so I tested a few recipes out myself:
Easy Bacon Cinnamon Rolls - These truly are easy! Just grab some store bought cinnamon rolls, unroll them and re-roll them with a slice of slightly-baked thick cut bacon, then toss them in the oven. These were a huge hit!
Ham, Onion, Egg, & Cheese Breakfast Bombs– Another quick and easy breakfast, this time with ham! Place some store bought refrigerated crescent rolls in a muffin tin and fill with egg, ham, onion and cheese. They bake for about 14 minutes and come out perfect for eating at the table or racing out the door! These are great for switching out ingredients too. Sneak in a few more veggies or swap the ham for bacon or sausage. Warning: these Bombs disappear quickly!
Sausage Blueberry Pancake Muffins – Just like it sounds, these are made from pancake mix with a bit of maple syrup. Just add some pre-cooked, cut sausage links and a couple blueberries and pop them in the oven for 15 minutes. They were simple to make and easy to grab and go!
With Smithfield’s full array of smoky bacon, savory sausage and convenient Anytime Favorites ham, plus their quick and easy breakfast sandwiches, you can get creative in the mornings without sacrificing time. In addition to providing easy morning solutions, Smithfield has partnered with No Kid Hungry to support in-school breakfast programs and you can help too! Share a picture of your breakfast on social media using #BreakfastPower. For each breakfast shared, Smithfield will donate ten meals to No Kid Hungry. 1 in 6 children in America struggle with hunger*. Look around you. 1 in 6. So snap a photo of your breakfast, post it on social media and encourage your friends to do the same!
