VA Tax-free weekend

VA Tax Free weekend is upon us! While most of us know that this weekend covers taxes for school supplies, did you know it also covers hurricane preparedness, EnergyStar and Watersense items?

Friday august 3rd- Sunday August 6th, 2018 the following items are tax-free:

*Qualified school supplies: $20 or less per item.

* Qualified clothing and footwear: $100 or less per item.

* Portable generators: $1,000 or less per item.

* Gas-powered chainsaws: $350 or less per item

* Chainsaw accessories: $60 or less per item.

* Other specified emergency preparedness items, including batteries, flashlights and radios: $60 or less per item

* Qualifying Energy Star or WaterSense products purchased for noncommercial home or personal use: $2,500 or less per item.

Lots of shoppers plan to take advantage of this tax-free holiday weekend. Be sure to grab your sale ads and your patience when you head out.
