Fun-Land Invests in Future Guest Experience to Celebrate 20th Year!

By Clint Novak, General Manager September 7, 2017

Central Park Fun-Land opened in 1997 as one of the original anchors within Fredericksburg’s premier superstore and retail destination. The 40,000 square foot building sits on 7 acres and initially opened with Go-Karts, an 18 hole Mini-Golf course, Batting Cages, and Bumper Cars. In 2010 many new rides and attractions were added outside creating a carnival style theme.

In order to improve the guest experience and to increase visitor frequency, the Laser Tag experience was completely renovated in early 2016. In 2017, the original Bumper Cars were replaced with Buzzy’s Spin Out. This dynamic and immersive, joy-stick operated ride, allows guests of any age to fully participate in the action. Fun-Land now boasts 20 rides/attractions and over 100 arcade games. Additional renovation is underway including a full bathroom remodel. Before 2017 ends, a fully interactive climbing experience will be introduced to Fun-Land patrons. “Clip n Climb” is a multi-dimensional user-friendly climbing experience like no other.

“Refurbishing the property is vital to keep the experience fresh and enjoyable. During 2017, over $1 million was re-invested in the park. These dollars directly impact and improve our guest’s experiences. New bathrooms don’t sound sexy, but believe me, moms care about bathrooms and we care about moms wanting to bring their children to Fun-Land” said Chuck Peitz, property owner.

We are expanding our offerings to increase our corporate and team-building offerings. “Businesses in the area should creatively consider our facility as a resource to reward employees or challenge a sales team. We have on-site food and beverage services. Our guests recognize us for our stellar birthday parties, however, they are just the beginning of the special events and fun we can create in our facility. We accommodate a wide variety of special events, from commemorative parties of 9 people to full-facilities rentals for over 500 people,” said Sales Manager, Thomas Boswell.

Fun-Land’s goal is to be a resource to the community. In 2017 alone more than $7000 in party packages and play value have been donated to be used as a fundraising tool for local charities.
Fun-Land is working, near-term, to expand its business collaborations and relationships.

General Manager, Clint Novak is focused on building relationships within Central Park and the Greater Fredericksburg community. “Relationships matter in business. When BJ’s Brewhouse first opened, they had several trainers from other regions helping the new local staff. Some of the trainers had never been to the area and had little down time, but we wanted to make sure they had some fun when they could. We dropped off $600 in Play Cards so the training staff could come to the park. If we refer business to each other then we keep the dollars local, visitors stay longer, we can employ more people, and we have a greater positive impact on our community’s economy.”
