Library hosting eclipse celebrations

Central Rappahannock Regional Library (CRRL) is hosting eclipse viewing parties on Monday, August 21. Activities that may be offered at one or more of these branches are building your own viewer, listening to folktales about the sun, crafts, live video streaming, and safe observing.

A Solar Celebration: The Celestial Event of the Year
Monday, August 21, between 1:18-4:02 p.m. (peak time 2:42)
Porter Branch, 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Snow Branch, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Salem Church Branch, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
England Run Branch, 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Tales as Old as the Sun
Headquarters Library, Monday, August 21, 2:15-3:00 p.m.
Patawomeck storyteller Johnny Mac Chinn tells tales leading up to the peak of the eclipse followed by traditional Patawomeck music

Sunsational Eclipse on the Beach
Cooper Branch, Monday, August 21, 1:30-3:00 p.m.
Celebrate the solar eclipse on the beach at Colonial Beach. Bring your beach blanket and a lunch. After the eclipse, a time capsule of mementos will be buried. Safety-certified viewing glasses and snacks will be provided. Call to sign up for glasses: 804-224-0921.

Safety-certified viewing glasses will be provided for viewing party participants while supplies last.
