Pizza Burgers

By Stephanie Stewart September 21, 2016
This week I am going to share a little bit of my Western Pennsylvania  heritage with you! We all have one of those childhood recipes that sneak up once in a blue moon in the back of your head and says “Oh, remember ______  from high school?!” And you are forced to have to make them! Fortunately, my mother spent some time working in the school cafeteria when I was a tiny tot and so I just so happen to have this recipe memorized. If you need a good diet splurge or comfort food, these are super easy and yummy!

Ingredients:
1 lb Ground Beef
1 lb Beef Bologna
1 lb Cooked Ham
1lb American Cheese
1 Jar Spaghetti Sauce
2 tsp Oregano
2 tsp Seasoned Salt
2 Cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Hamburger Buns

Directions:
  • Place 1 lb of Uncooked Ground Beef and 1lb of Bologna into your food processor on low until the two are blended together and ground into small pieces. (This will look disgusting, but it is ok- it is tasty!)
  • Place mixture into a large pot on medium-high heat until the ground beef is cooked through (About 10-12 minutes)
  • Add the ham to your food processor until it is ground finely.
  • Add ham to the previous meat mixture and brown about 5 minutes.
  • Add American cheese and melt. (I cheated and used American Cheese Singles. This is a perfect opportunity for those who have small children that want to help in the kitchen. I have fond memories of being a little girl and my mom allowing me to open the slices of cheese and throw them into the pot.)
  • Stir in the sauce and seasonings and simmer on low for 20-25 min or until you notice the mixture thickening up.
  • Toast your buns first in the broiler on low. Add the meat and some shredded mozzarella, broil and shazam…. ooey gooey goodness!
