The State Fair of Virginia will be providing us with ten days full of hours of entertainment, concerts, food, education and fun! It will run from Sept. 23 - Oct. 2, 2016 at the Meadow Event Park located in Doswell, VA.
Some of this excitement includes:
- Ten nights of concerts featuring national acts, Granger Smith featuring Earl Dibbles, Jr., Little River Band, and The Tams. Bands from the Richmond area include: Prospect 7, Arise Band, Kevin Mac and more. Check online for a full schedule.
- Hansen’s Spectacular-Family that performs aerial acts up to 30 feet high in the air, trampoline tricks and the aerial cloud swing.
- Mad Science Show-Interactive educational programs that will delight kids young and old. Hands-on exhibits and show.
- Demolition Derby-Smash ‘em up!
- Tiny-T the roving baby T-Rex will greet fair guests throughout the event.
- The World’s Largest Horseshoe, certified by the Guinness Book of World Records, will be on display daily. This shoe was modeled after Triple Crown Winner, Secretariat, who was born at the Meadow Event Park.
- Horticulture, arts and crafts and baked good demonstrations and exhibits.
- Young MacDonald’s Farm-The famous sliding baby chicks, cow-birthing center, goats, pigs and other animals delight at Young MacDonald’s Farm.
And you can’t forget the best part of the fair: the food! Old favorites and new fair food will be there to delight your taste buds. New additions this year include: S’Mores Cobbler, Crab and Blue Cheese Burger, Strawberry Shortcake Donuts, Bacon Iced Tea, Chocolate Dipped Corn on the Cob and more!
